Vandals cause damage in town centre parks

Vandals have struck at a park in the centre of Wokingham, pulling out plants and causing hundreds of pounds work of damage.
On their Facebook page, Wokingham Town Council said: “We’re sorry to have to report this morning that trees in Howard Palmer Garden and Langborough Recreation Ground have been vandalised over the weekend. This incident has been reported to the police. If you have any information that might help identify the culprit(s) please do get in touch with us.”
A planter was pushed over at Howard Palmer Gardens and a young tree completely ripped out of the ground, and at Langborough four saplings were snapped in half or broken off at their base.
Cllr Andy Coy told My Wokingham how disappointed he is about the criminal damage and asked if anyone saw this happen to report it to police. Some flowers were pulled out of there pots and thrown around the park.
An investigation is under way by Wokingham Town Council who will look at CCTV footage from the area.
