Festive fun raises £600 for Wokingham Foodbank

A special evening in the run-up to Christmas raised a fantastic £603.62 for the Wokingham Foodbank.

The money was raised during the festive light switch-on at the Bearwood Recreation Ground. A number of local vendors set up their stalls for the gift market, providing an opportunity for some Christmas shopping.

There was mulled wine and mince pies with additional refreshments provided by Winnersh Churches and 1st Winnersh Scout Group. And musical entertainment was provided by children from Bearwood, Wheatfield and Winnersh Primary Schools, as well as a local a Capella group, The Barberettes.

The evening was completed with the lights switched on by Wokingham Borough Council Mayor Cllr Beth Rowland and a fabulous fire show performed by Deanna Gould.
