Meeting to highlight overdevelopment in Shinfield

A public meeting is being held tomorrow (Saturday 17th February) highlighting concerns about development around Shinfield and Arborfield.

The public meeting about overdevelopment has been arranged by SOLVE (Save Out Loddon Valley at Hall Farm) and will run from 2pm to 5pm at Spencers Wood Village Hall.

A spokesman said: “We are facing massive overdevelopment in our area. Thousands of new houses have been built in this area, yet we are being expected to take even more housing development. Not only is Spencers Wood threatened with 500 more houses at Body’s Farm but the University of Reading is proposing 4,500 houses at Hall Farm, Arborfield, not far from School Green.

“Our roads will be even more gridlocked, schools and health services will be overwhelmed. Over a thousand acres of green fields so important for nature, flood protection and wellbeing destroyed. Why must all the new houses for Wokingham be pushed into the south of the borough when the north of the borough refuses to accept even a few.”

SOLVE Hall Farm are a group of residents living around the Hall Farm/ Loddon Valley area opposed to the imposition of 4,500 houses as part of the Revised Local Plan Update proposed by Wokingham Borough Council.
